Getting Started

Welcome to the home page for the non-creatively named Dungeons and Dragons in  Long Beach group.

We are still in the process of figuring out who our players are. Hopefully, if you are here reading this, you are one of them.

What we have determined so far is that the gaming will be every other Thursday from 7 p.m. (possibly earlier) until 10 p.m. at my house near the Lakewood Mall. We will play version 3.5 with a campaign that takes characters from level 1 to 30, roughly leveling up once each session, sometimes every other session. The characters will be good or at least good-ish as the campaign scenario does call for it, and it calls for the characters to work together cooperatively.

I can arrange to have food available if that helps with the start time.

Newbies are more than welcome.

The story will be very character-driven, so all the characters need to be in play every session. This means that a) we need players who can nearly always attend, and b) when someone is absent, their character will need to be played by one of the present characters -- they can't just phase out of the story. Relatedly, I'm looking for suggestions on the easiest way for me to keep a current copy of all character sheets on hand for use when someone is absent. If someone can suggest a good character sheet manager app that lets us cloud-store a handful of characters for shared access, that would be very helpful. Even better if it's an app that will help with leveling the characters.

If you are interested, please reply/comment with the answers to these questions. I believe that to comment -- confusingly -- you must click below on the link that says "No Comments" or "__ Comments." Once I've heard from everyone, we'll finalize the date and send out the address, etc.

1. What is your name?
2. Do you prefer to start on Oct 19 or Oct 26 or no preference?
3. What character class would you like to play (with reference to choices already made by others?) I think we'll do best with 2 fighter types, a rogue, an arcane caster, a religious caster, and one other magic type.
4. Is 7:00 your earliest start time, or could you start closer to 6?
5. Any suggestions of an app we can use to maintain all the characters -- one that will let the DM print out the current version of the character when a player is absent, and preferably one that assists in the leveling up process?

Thanks, we'll go from there!

Jeff
